Why Rosie's Book?

While growing up, I had a dear friend, Renee, that lived next door and with whom I spent much of my childhood. We grew, in different directions, and went on our merry way. Many years later, I ran into her parents and they kindly reminded me of the laughs they still have over my book. “What book?” I wondered with a puzzled look. "I don't remember a book." Hardy laughter accompanied their response. At some time during our childhood, I tried to convince Renee about something that her parents didn’t agree with. I told her that proof of its truth could be found “in my book.” Naturally she went home and tried to convince her parents of the same thing but they weren’t falling for it. She needed an edge and told them emphatically, “It’s in Rosie’s book!” After they caught their breaths from reborn laughter, they let me know how “Rosie’s book” has been cited for many other things throughout the years. They’ve also mentioned that they’d like to see “Rosie’s book” one day. I can’t remember all of the things that I said were in “my book” but I’m sure my dear friend’s parents can recall much more than I ever knew about – LOL!!! So, here it is . . . my version of things you might find In Rosie’s Book . . .

Card Art with Copics: Elisabeth Bell's Letters to Santa

This sweetly bundled little lady makes her way to a nearby mailbox, not at all bothered by the gently falling snow, to ensure that her special letter will be delivered in time.  This digital image is named Letters to Santa and was designed by Elisabeth Bell.  You can get your own Letters to Santa at the Elisabeth Bell's Digital Gallery here.

This photo shows my Copic-filled image.  Flower Soft's Polar White covers the snowy ground while Diamond Stickles adds sparkle to the falling snowflakes.  I was inspired to cover the snowy ground with Flower Soft's Polar White after reviewing Elisabeth's recent and very exciting news that she's joining the artists at Flower Soft. (You can read all about it here.)

I've layered four patterns from Basic Grey's Eskimo Kisses collection:  Snow Globe, Snow Cap, Peppermint Twist and Glazed Apple with Bazzill's reddish, green and white cardstock.  A Spellbinders Floral Doily Motifs die cut holds a Stampin' Up! 3/8" Whisper White Taffeta Ribbon bow.  Stampin' Up! 1" and 1/2" circle punches shape my layered Stampin' Up! Circle of Friendship sentiment.  A Memory Box Holly Vine lines one side of my image.

A cluster of handmade paper white Christmas flowers adorns one corner.

Here's a view of my card front showcasing my use of Elisabeth Bell's Letters to Santa digital image . . .

Card Art with Copics: Ladybug Crafts Ink Beer Belly Man

I was very lucky to win this fabulous digital image by Gayle Cook for Ladybug Crafts Ink called Beer Belly Man and couldn't wait to make some time to play with it.  The look on his face makes me smile until I laugh.  I'm pretty sure that he'll have the same effect on several of the guys that I care the most about.  You can get your own Beer Belly Man at the Ladybug Crafts Ink online store here.

Here's a closer view of my Copic-filled image . . . My botched attempt at making his huge belly cast a shadow onto his pants makes it look more like he's wearing a pair of shorts over his pants.  Oh well.  Sometimes I've just got to leave well enough alone - LOL!!!

I printed the entire digital image onto My Mind's Eye Miss Caroline collection's Fiddlesticks "You and Me" Bloom patterned paper.  I shaded just the outer shirt using Copic colors Y26 and Y28.  I fussy cut the outline of the outer shirt and lined the edge with my Copic Multiliner brush tip so the white core of the paper wouldn't show.  Then I carefully adhered the cut pieces of the shaded, checked paper to my image.

Layers of Imaginisce A Shore Thing "Cool Pool Chatter" patterned word paper with Bazzill Carob and smooth golden and blue cardstocks form my card.  A few Creative Impressions Tropical blue mini brads line two corners.  A Stampin' Up! scalloped square punch shaped my older Stampin' Up! Say It With Scallops set sentiment.  I've attached a Creative Impressions Metallic Mini Paper Clip to my sentiment then tied a brown gingham 1/4" Offray ribbon to it.  A QuicKutz foaming mug die cut in vellum and yellow cardstock includes a layer of heated white liquid applique for texture.

Here's a view of my completed card front showing my use of Ladybug Crafts Ink Beer Belly Man . . . and he's still making me smile and laugh!

Elisabeth Bell's World Challenge: Non-Christmas Image on a Christmas Card

The Digi Bells design team over at the Elisabeth Bell's World Challenge Blog wants to see your use of a non-Christmas Image on your Christmas projects.  A very lucky randomly selected entry will win TWO Elisabeth Bell digi images of their choice AND £10 for your choice of EB stamps from Crafts and Me Stamps!  You can find out more about this challenge and sponsors here.

The lovely Teresa at Crafts and Me Stamps in the UK sells EB images from several rubber- and clear-stamp companies.  You'll find EB images from Whiff of Joy, Sweet Pea Stamps, and Belles 'n Whistles!

I've used this sweet A Warm Fuzzy Hug rubberstamped image designed by Elisabeth Bell for Sweet Pea Stamps.  You can find her at the Sweet Pea Stamps online store here.  She's also available at Crafts and Me Stamps here.  I've used Spellbinders Classic Ovals, large and small, for the Beyond-the-Edge technique to allow her braided hair to flow over the edge.  This pic shows a closer view of my Copic-filled image.  Note how I've used the Nasty Rag Technique on the bear for fun, furry texture.

I've layered punched shapes from Punch Bunch punches to form my handmade chrysanthemums that surround the Stampin' Up! Sincere Salutations sentiment.  The flowers are lightly painted with Diamond Stickles for amazing shimmer.  A couple of Cheery Lynn Designs die cut Mini Fanciful Flourishes provide some classy, leafy swirls.

Layers of Bo Bunny's Snowfall Collection's Snowfall Stripe, Snowfall Blizzard and Snowfall Wintertime, with Bazzill's Typhoon, Tropical and Nautical blues form my card.  An EK Success Snowflake border punch provides snowflakes throughout the center strip as well as the corner snowflakes with a Memory Box self-adhesive pearl at each snowflake center.

Here's a view of the front of my completed side open card showing my use of Sweet Pea Stamps' A Warm Fuzzy Hug, as designed by Elisabeth Bell, a non-Christmas image, on a Christmas card . . .

Crafts and Me Stamps Challenge: Autumn Colors

The Dynamite Digi design team over at the Crafts and Me Stamps' challenge blog wants to see you use autumn colors on your projects.  Crafts and Me Stamps is sponsoring this challenge and offering THREE digital images to a randomly selected entry. You can find out more about this challenge here.

I've used a digi image named Smartie Pants, designed by Hannah Lynn, exclusively for Crafts and Me Stamps.  She makes a fantastic Back-to-School inspirational image!

Here's a closer view of my Copic-filled image.

I've layered Karen Foster Design Fall Foliage patterned paper with Bazzill cardstock.  A Spellbinders' Fleur De Lis Rectangle frames my image.  A few leaf eyelets line a corner of my card.  I've used a Stampin' Up! scallop border punch and a Memory Box Estate Fence for the lower border of my card and then I covered it all up - LOL!!!  Just bits of it peek through.  I've die cut chipboard using a Sizzix fruit die to carry an apple from the image onto my card.

Handmade flowers, made from layers of Punch Bunch punches, accent a sentiment from a Close To My Heart Faith, Hope, Charity set.

Here's a view of my completed card front showing how I've used the digital image called Smartie Pants by Hannah Lynn with autumn colors . . .

To celebrate the newest addition to Elisabeth Bell's Digital Gallery (here), the Digi Bells Design Team is hosting a blog hop.

How can you win your own Pumpkin Fairy Ellora digi image?  You'll have to hop through and leave comments on EACH blog.  [You can find the full list of 15 other blogs at the Digi Bells Design Team blog (here).]  Lynda will pick 2 blogs at random and the winners will be picked from those comments. The hoppers will have until Friday, Aug. 24, 2012 at 9 AM to leave comments. The winners will be posted at the Digi Bells' blog on Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012.

Reminder:  Buying then sharing digital images is theft.  Sharing digital images takes income away from the artist.

I've used Pumpkin Fairy Ellora on the front of a side open card.  I added a few grounding lines with a Copic Multiliner.  Close To My Heart Bitty Sparkles adorn her crown.

Layers of Bazzill cardstock in Blackbird, Tangelo and Straw with patterned papers from Authentique's Enchanted Collection provide the base for my card.  A die cut of a Cheery Lynn Designs' screen door holds a Making Memories Halloween crescent moon brad for a handle.  More black bat brads surround my image.  A Crafty Secrets Medium Halloween Fun set sentiment adorns one corner and is embellished with a QuicKutz veggies mini and a bat remaining from a Martha Stewart batty border.  A few coordinating, handmade bachelor button flowers, painted with diamond Stickles, accent my image.

Here's a view of my completed card front showcasing my use of Elisabeth Bell's Pumpkin Fairy Ellora digi image . . .

A Martha Stewart batty border and a paper pieced EK Success Pumpkin Flourish Chain decorate the inside . . .

Card Art with Copics: Elisabeth Bell's Peek-A-Bunny

This lovely little lady, resting thoughtfully on a tree strump while a sweet bunny peeks at her from the other side, was released as a digi image by Elisabeth Bell in April of this year.

Here's a pic of my Copic-filled image.

I've layered Pink Paislee's Enchanting Delightful butterfly patterned paper with Bo Bunny doubledots and cardstock to create my side open card.  Diamond Stickles is painted over the petals of handmade flowers that surround my image and a friendly sentiment from an older Stampin' Up! Serene Spring set.  Here's a view of my card front showcasing my use of Elisabeth Bell's Peek-A-Bunny digital image . . .

Card Art with Copics: Crafts and Me Stamps Dragonfly by Janna Prosvirina

Crafts and Me Stamps carries an exclusive line of fabulous rubberstamps designed by one of their newest artists Janna Prosvirina.  I've used Dragonfly on a celebration card.  You can find this image as a rubberstamp here.

This photo shows a closer view of my Copic-filled image.  Notice how the effect of using the "beyond the edge" diecutting technique with this image makes her wings appear as though they're fluttering off the background.  With a choice of 13 different sized oval dies of the Lifestyle Crafts (formerly QuicKutz) Nesting Ovals, it's easy for me to find just the right size for my image.

Along the edges of my oval element you'll find a border of paper flowers handmade with layers of a variety of Punch Bunch punches.  Here's a closer view of my handmade chrysanthemum and bell flowers lightly painted with Diamond Stickles for amazing sparkle.  The stamped sentiment is from a Penny Black "to you" set.

I've layered older Stampin' Up! and SEI Seasoned Sizzle Stripes patterned paper with Bazzill cardstock.  An EK Success Paper Shaper Whale of a Punch Scallop Photo Corner adorns one corner while a few Creative Impressions White Mini Brads adorn another.  A bit of Wrights 1/2" lace lines a border made with a Martha Stewart Spiral Arches Large Edger punch.

Crafts and Me Stamps Challenge: Use a Digi

The Dynamite Digi design team over at the Crafts and Me Stamps' challenge blog wants to see you use a digi on your projects.  Letraset is sponsoring this challenge and offering a set of 6 Promarkers to a randomly selected entry. You can find out more about this challenge here.

I've used a recently released digi image named Unveiling of Heart, designed by Sara Burrier, exclusively for Crafts and Me Stamps.

Here's a closer view of my Copic-filled image.  Her cloak extends beyond the edge of the oval die cut and falls beneath my ribbon bow.  This is another great example of how using the Beyond-the-Edge die cutting technique allows the image to appear as though part of it is popping off of the paper.

I've layered KaiserCraft These Days Collection Reunion double sided patterned paper with Bazzill Olive, Cool Cantaloupe and Java cardstock.  A few square brads line two corners of my card.  A Cheery Lynn Designs Fanciful Flourish and McGill pine branch punches provide filling for my mulberry paper roses and Hero Arts Home set "Hello!" sentiment.

Here's a view of my completed card front  showing how I've used the digital image called Unveiling of Heart by Sara Burrier to say Hello! . . .

Card Art with Copics: Elisabeth Bell's On Cupid's Cloud

This stunning little angel, showing a touch of the crack of his cute bottom as he sits on a sweet heart-shaped cloud, was released by Elisabeth Bell in February of this year.  While this digi image, named On Cupid's Cloud, surely portrays lots of love through the included roses and hearts, I thought I'd use him to show loving support to our 2012 Olympic athletes.

Here's a pic of my Copic-filled image.  I searched for far too long in too many junk drawers to find an unused lapel pin of our country's flag.  Instead I found an old sticker set from a promotional union mailer so I fussy cut the flag sticker and stuck it to the fishing line in hopes that it would appear as though my little Cupid was dropping some roses to our USA teams.  Yay!!!

I've layered The Robin's Nest Blue Stars on Red patterned paper with Bazzill textured cardstocks to create my side open card.  A QuicKutz diecut flourish adorns one mulberry paper flower clustered corner.  I've cut a Zva Creative self-adhesive rhinestone swirl to add some sparkle to each side of my image.  Diamond Stickles is painted over the angel's wings and borders the edge of my image.  A blue star eyelet adorns a sentiment from a Close to my Heart Card Chatter - Birthday set.  Here's a view of my card front showcasing my use of Elisabeth Bell's On Cupid's Cloud latest digital image . . .
